Dear SCONY Members,

Most of the members I see regularly and have come to know quite well.  I know you well enough to know that you don't always check the site for updated information.  (Hands on hips and foot tapping).  Please try to check dates and times on your own.   For those of you who are out of town I've tried to extend the calendar so you will have plenty of notice to plan your travel.

Clubs and restaurants love to work with SCONY because we have established a good reputation with the business community.  The bills are paid on time,  we respect their rules, stick to the plans we make, tip well and leave the place in order.  What has also helped this year is that SCONY has so many funny people with healthy personalities in its membership.

I'm starting to get calls from businesses who want us to bring the parties to their location.  If the setting is good I will most likely take them up on their offer.  At this point I must say I have a certain loyalty to Lenny at Hellfire for the socials.  He has the biggest space with the right layout for what the socials do.  Lenny was the first and only established person in the scene that welcomed our business with open arms.  He's taught me a lot about handling large groups and has protected us from a number of hassles.  His facility is cleaner than it used to be and the staff is extremely friendly to us.

A private, small SCONY party is on the calendar for March 18, 2000.  This gathering is intended to be a more intimate, calm gathering than the socials and the Valentines Day party.

More and more party groups are starting up around the country.  New York has such a dense population and so many groups to choose from that I feel sticking to the SCONY protocol as written is still a good choice.  Other types of play can be found with two other organizations close by and I don't see the need to duplicate their efforts.  By being a bit restrained the group has avoided a mountain of problems.  I don't always talk about the negative part of the scene. I've dealt with it by avoiding it.  I try to keep my eyes and ears open for new ideas and stay true to our basic common interest.

Some memberships will expire on December 31, 1999.  I urge you to renew when you can.  Besides doing our best to offer safe and sane parties, since 1997 the group has raised over $7,000 for charity.  It's a great, great cause and we have helped some really wonderful people.  In addition to the local discounts, spanking contacts and great parties, members get first and early notice of everything SCONY has to offer.
